This has been something that I have struggled with a lot in the past, and a bit currently, but these are words I’m going to need to take to heart. Technical skill development is going to be the basis for my growth over the next few months, if I can pull it off.

This is something I can pretty much agree with. I find it curious that some people seem really troubled by the fact that they lack consistency or an “identifiable” drawing style. I feel like that isn’t something you should be consciously striving for, especially when there isn’t really a clearly laid-out goal.

For those of you who might not know me.

I’m Gordo.  I’m a thirtysomething nerd living in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

I have delusions of being an artist; for now I satisfy myself by doodling and sketching in my free time. Thanks to a lifelong obsession with cartoons, I’ve developed a style that is heavily influenced by anime and a touch of Disney. I’m attempting to recover from a long creative withdrawal period, so my skills are pretty damn rusty. Many of the images I post here will be pencil sketches or black and white line art; I’m struggling to get back into working with color, but it’s just a matter of time at this point.

I collect music, pens, and bad habits.

Feel free to contact me here or via Google+

A character created for a friend - to my knowledge, they dropped the project shortly thereafter. Oh well. Blue pencil lead for its own sake.

Just a tad elongated, this one.

Getting things started with a piece of fan art; that’s probably not promising, but to hell with that. Vin, of the novel Mistborn, via a Bruce Timm style experiment and a brush marker.
